How To Add a Blog To Shopify

Did you ever want to know if you can run a blog on Shopify?

I’m going to show you that it is possible with step by step instructions. I will also provide you with examples so that you know what you can do with your Shopify blog once you have it installed.

Using an Desktop computer to add a blog to Shopify.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Blog Posts.
  2. Click Manage blogs.
  3. Click Add blog.
  4. Give your blog a title, and then select how you want to manage comments.
  5. Select the template that you want to use for the blog.
  6. Click Save blog.

This completes the desktop setup.

Using an iPhone to add a blog to Shopify

Steps:

  1. From the Shopify app, tap Store.
  2. In the Sales channels section, tap Online Store.
  3. Tap Blog posts.
  4. Tap the … button beside Blog posts, and then select Manage blogs.
  5. Tap the + button.
  6. Give your blog a title, and then select how you want to manage comments.
  7. Select the template that you want to use for the blog.
  8. Click Save blog.

This completes the iPhone setup.

Using an Android phone to add a blog to Shopify.

Steps:

  1. From the Shopify app, tap Store.
  2. In the Sales channels section, tap Online Store.
  3. Tap Blog posts.
  4. Tap the ⋮ button beside Blog posts, and then select Manage blogs.
  5. Tap the + button.
  6. Give your blog a title, and then select how you want to manage comments.
  7. Select the template that you want to use for the blog.
  8. Click Save blog.

This completes the Android setup.

When you have created your blog you can add your blog to your main navigation menu.
Note that the appearance and location of menus depend on your store’s theme.

With the right theme you can make sure that your BLOG link is located in the navigation menu that you want.

A theme is a template that determines the way that your online store looks and feels. Different themes have different styles and layouts, and offer a different experience for your customers.

Final Thoughts

Now that you know it is possible to add a blog to your store you can decided if using the Shopify blog platform to host you blog is the right thing or not.

I do not use Shopify for hosting my blog. What I’ve done instead was add a navigation link to my Shopify store that reads “Blog” and then that link forwards the visitor to another URL where my WordPress blog hosted.

The ease of adding the blog functionality to Shopify is done is a few steps however I prefer to use WordPress because of the customization I can do.
