Pre-Master Cleanse

February 26th, 2010 by James Comments »

This is how it goes:

Friday night, bought my citrus extractor (I highly recommend this instead of doing it by hand and a reamer) for about $15 bucks at Wal-Mart.

Saw a deal at Sweet Bay supermarket for lemons 3 for $0.99 so I bought a bunch of them.  Some were small and I don’t want to be short on the juice.  ya know what I mean :)

Next thing is for me to find a nice gallon size container that has a large opening.  I couldn’t find anything at Wal-Mart so I guess Target will be my spot tonight.

I’ve already prepared the lemons and stored them in the fridge and today all I need to do is find that container and then in the am I will be good to go.

I wanted to start this cleanse on Friday but after careful consideration I decided to start the cleansing process on Saturday.  I know being in the office on Friday for the first day of this process may not be the smartest idea for me.

Off to the store to get my container and I will tell you how I feel during the next 10 days.
I want you to see how I go through it and then you can see that it aint that bad and do it yourself.

Starting Your Online Business

February 23rd, 2010 by James Comments »

So you want to sell things online?  Already have a brick and mortar business but want more of an online presence?

First things first, get your own domain name. (yourname.com and/or yourbusinessname.com)

I use 1 and 1 for my domains and it costs me about 9 bucks a  year.

Next you will need to find a place to host your sites.  I have nothing but good things to say about Host Gator and I’ve been using them for quite some time.

[Check my Resources page for more info on products and services I use.]

While you are waiting or in the process of getting a domain name you will want to get your vanity name for social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.   ie Facebook.com/yourname , twitter.com/yourname

Here’s the part where I tell you My opinion and it’s just that, My opinion.

As you are well aware there are many ways of making a name for yourself or business online. My method is that I like for people to personally get to know me, the person behind the scene and not just a mascot for the company.   I don’t care what business X is doing for the holidays, however to hear that the CEO is going skiing for the first time. Well that’s interesting to me and gives me an insight of the person whom I will be doing business with and would like to give off that same vibe to my followers.

Building a rapport with your clients is a great way to earn their trust and business.
This approach may not work for all business models but for what I do and teach it does.

If you already have your facebook, twitter, and/or a blog set up now it’s time to start getting social.

By starting off interactively and being social in your business you will be able to capture your audience in a way that other business only dreams of.  (think for a second, how cool it would be that you tweeted a message to one of your favorite company’s President and that person responded back and not by just an email)

So for now before I get into blogging and setting up your pages I want you to focus on setting up your social media sites and grab your domain before someone else picks it up.

Making Money Online

February 18th, 2010 by James Comments »

Graph showing upward swingThere are many ways of making money online, however, some are better than others.

Whether you’re new to making money online or have been in business for awhile, you know that there are tons of different strategies out there.

So where do you begin?
How do you Start?
Do you need experience?

To answer those questions is quite simple.

  • Where do you begin? – well finding out where you want to end is the key to that question.  This is where many people just starting out get lost.  They are so focused on just making money that they don’t have a plan.  (I’ll go over strategies in future posts)
  • How do you start? – I strongly recommend finding a mentor.  Someone that has achieved the desired results you are looking for.  This is the best approach as it will save you years of research and testing.  (The average online marketer usually takes 2-3 years before “making it”. By having a mentor you will bypass all of that)
  • Do you need experience? – No, absolutely not.  Is it good to have experience, of course but if you are hardwired to do things your old way and not change to what’s working today then having experience could be a bad thing. (if you know how to send and receive email then you are way ahead of the curve.)

So now that you know the answers to a few questions about making money online and what it takes to get started I will provide you a tiny check list to get you started.

  1. Find a niche where the money is. (yeah doing something you love is cool an all but that doesn’t mean you will make money from it.)
  2. Start off with Affiliate marketing.  (Learn the process of promoting someone else’s product first. You can then see how they funnel their leads into buyers)
  3. IMPORTANT – spend 30 minutes to a few hours each day working on your new business. (This is where people fail, they are expecting big results without any work involved.  Once you understand how things work then you outsource and work on things that make you money and not suck up your time)
  4. Test. Run multiple campaigns, try different headlines, use different methods of getting your customers to take action.

Some of the items in the check list may not make 100% sense to you now but I will go over them individually and I promise you will see how easy it is.

Fitness Goals

January 26th, 2010 by James Comments »

260lbs 1-26-10

There are a few things that I want to accomplish fitness wise and one of them is definitely getting down to the low 200’s.

I am currently at 260-265lbs give or take.

Like most people who diet or try to lose weight by exercise and eating healthier we tend to yo-yo.  I realized that it has to be a lifestyle change and not a diet.

I am totally cool with changing my bad habits but I won’t go cold turkey on everything.  I understand that I need to change things up if I really want to see results.

The first thing that I will be doing is detoxing.  I plan on going on the master cleanse for about 8-10 days and then begin my hard core work out regimen.  At the moment I have cut back on my two servings at dinner and stuff.  (I won’t lie here, not all the time though because I am a fan of food!!)

After I get off the detox I will begin a 60 day no weight intense cardio type workout.  After that I will take a 1-2 break and then hit the weights for a p90x type workout.

So my goal for 2010 is to be in the low 200’s.  I am not quite sure what will work for my body type just yet so the weight isn’t my only goal factor, I want to be in shape.   Like clean my abs with a q-tip shape.  Well not really but that would be nice.  In order for me to do that I would need to be 100% disciplined and like I said that is a lifestyle change.

Summing it up I am at 260+ pounds and need to drop 60 to get to my desired weight.  I know I can do it in 6-7 months.  That’s only 8-10 lbs a month.  I know I would be able to achieve this goal and by documenting what I am doing here you will get to see me through my ups and downs.

I will let you know when the detoxing begins. (shortly)

Day 1 – Changing Habits

January 25th, 2010 by James Comments »

I’ve decided to change a few things up in 2010 and my health was one of them.  That being said, I now need to change some of the bad habits I have.

Some of the habits I need to modify:

  • eat smaller portions and more frequently (possibly 5-6 meals a day, roughly 300-500 calories) What will help me is to eat from smaller plates and, drink from taller glasses.
  • take more breaks to reduce stress.  For every hour or so of work to get up and move around and stretch
  • cut soda out of my meals – my choice is water for sure but I will opt to switch soda out for iced tea with an artificial sweetener
  • will be more active.  Besides the whole working out thing I will do more
  • EXERCISE – beginning I will workout 4-5 times a week for at least two-three months and then after that cut back to 2-3 times a week to main a healthy lifestyle.

I will document my journey and in my next post you will see my goals.

Until then Ciao!
